Nice Mike! On days like this, think back to highschool... you don't need a meter. 1/ISO @ f/16 in full sunlight. open up 3 stops in open shade. So, if you were shooting at ISO 200, your exposure would be 1/200 f/16, or more likely(with no flash to sync...) 1/1600 f/5.6. No need to worry about meter errors!
